Golf Course Quarterback

golfcoursequarterback.jpg‭Famed NFL signal-caller and golf course owner Ron Jaworski will keynote the opening session of the NGCOA’s 2017 Golf Business Conference in Orlando

Ron Jaworski didn’t get his popular nickname “Jaws” from the Steven Spielberg thriller that swept the country in 1975. No, the affectionate honor was instead bestowed upon him by nextdoor neighbor and star Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Doug Collins. “It was because my lips were always flapping,” Jaworski once recalled in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

Those same flapping lips will be on display next February for golf course owners and operators, as the former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst will keynote the opening session of the NGCOA’s Golf Business Conference on February 7.

When it comes to teamwork—and football—the best defense is a good offense. And if you want to protect your brand like an NFL offensive line protects its quarterback, you’ll definitely want to hear from Jaworski. After a distinguished 17-year career as a professional quarterback, Jaws took his leadership skills from the gridiron to the boardroom as the owner of Philadelphia Soul—a professional arena football team—a business relationship company and six golf courses in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Among his many career highlights, Jaws quarterbacked the Eagles to a 20-7 victory over the Cowboys in the 1980 NFC Championship, the same season he was named NFC Offensive Player of the Year. He would go on to start a then-NFL record 116 consecutive games at quarterback, a mark held until Brett Favre passed him in 1999.

Jaworski is also the author of “The Games That Changed the Game,” which highlights seven games in NFL history that altered the strategies and tactics used in professional football. Drawing on these experiences, Jaws will entertain, inspire and enlighten conference attendees as he shares insights golf course owners and operators can put in place to tackle their companies’ challenges.
